Description of the monthly sea ice production data set in the Arctic Ocean The heat flux and sea ice production analysis is produced daily on the polar stereographic grid with a spatial resolution of 6.25 km. The analysis uses AMSR-E data and ERA-Interim data. The mapping of sea ice production is described in Iwamoto, K., K. I. Ohshima, and T. Tamura (2014), Improved mapping of sea ice production in the Arctic Ocean using AMSR-E thin ice thickness algorithm, Journal of Geophysical Research, 119, doi:10.1002/2013JC009749. The algorithm of AMSR-E thin ice thickness is described in detail in Iwamoto, K., K. I. Ohshima, T. Tamura, and S. Nihashi, 2013, Estimation of thin ice thickness from AMSR-E data in the Chukchi Sea. International Journal of Remote Sensing, 34, 468-489. When you will use these data set in your paper, please be sure to refer Iwamoto et al. (2014), and Iwamoto et al. (2013) if necessary. In this web site, the heat flux and sea ice production analysis is available in individual yearly files of individual monthly data products.
