I earned a doctoral degree in atomic and molecular physics from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1993, and worked on the photoionization processes of highly-charged ions and molecules in gas phase using synchrotron radiation as a postdoctoral researcher at The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) until 1996. During 2000/2001, I was a visiting researcher at University College London. Since becoming a permanent staff at Institute of Low Temperature Science Hokkaido University in 1996, I have tackled surface physics and chemistry on solid water at very low temperatures, relevant to chemical evolution on cosmic dust.
